The adult onesie is worn in so many ways from the ski slopes to the business meeting. Yes, there is even a onesie that looks like a business suit and feels like pajamas. The "suitsy" might not be for you but there is a design out there that is.

Whatever the design, you'll want to keep your new adult onesie in good condition

Read on for 8 things you can do to keep your adult onesie bright and cozy.

1. Read the Label on Your Adult Onesie

Pretty much every item of clothing has a care label and that includes your adult onesie. Read the label for instructions on how to wash it. If it says machine wash on cold then, do just that.

If the label is missing or faded, check the product website for instructions.

2. Reduce Detergent and Fabric Softener

If you use too much detergent, it is retained by the fabric and makes your clothes dull. Try using less and you may find that your adult onesie comes out clean and bright. You'll be saving money too.

3. Zip Up and Turn Inside Out

Before washing, zip or button up your adult onesie. This will reduce the chance of it snagging on other clothing.

Even better, turn you onesie inside out. This will reduce wear on the outside surface, keeping it bright and reduce pilling.

4. Sort Laundry

It's not always possible to wash everything separately. At least sort your laundry by washing method. Keep light and dark clothes separate.

Sorting is especially important when you use a dryer, as you don't want some things to be damp and other things to be toasted.

5. Turn the Heat Down

Higher heat in the washer or dryer can actually set stains on some fabrics. Keep the temperature lower to avoid stretching and shrinking. You will also save energy and reduce the cost of washing.

6. Avoid Bleach

Bleach can leave marks on your adult onesie. If you share a laundry space, check you are not also sharing splashes of somebody else's bleach.

If you use chlorine bleach in your washing machine, check that you are diluting it correctly. Any residue will lighten colors and possibly damage fabrics. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

7. Deal with Stains

Check for stains and promptly treat any that you find. Treat the stain before it is washed using a stain removal pen or wipes. Wash the adult onesie soon after stain treatment.

If you can't t treat it immediately, mark the stain with a big safety pin or hair clip and treat it as soon as you can.

Check after washing. If the stain is still there, repeat the treatment.

8. Don't Overload the Washer

You might be tempted to put more clothes in your washer to save time. When clothes are crammed into a washer, they rub together more and this is harmful to the finish.

For a brighter, longer lasting adult onesie reduce the size of the washer load.

You and Your Adult Onesie

Your fashion choices say something about you. Don't have your adult onesie say, "I'm faded and "shabby."
